For the eco-home: textured placemats

Since I've had little Sophia, I've spent many an afternoon nursing the babe and watching old shows on Hulu.com. My latest kick is HGTV's Design Star, starting with season one (spoiler alert - don't read further if you don't know how it ends) and the winner, David Bromstead, has a graphic, yet organic style which has me itching to redecorate in the same manner. Since that probably won't be happening anytime soon, I'll just encourage you to celebrate the beginning of your marriage with some of the awesome finds at Viva Terra, a fabulous eco-happy store and I would imagine Bromstead worthy. Personally, I am loving these natural texture placemats!

Repost: Love Notes

I found this on Auburn and Ivory and was instantly intrigued. It's a book of love notes and sweet nothings that are handcrafted into a lovely little book. The purpose of it's creation was a quick pick me up for the recipient, but the concept could be applied to any sentimental occasion.

And her inspiration came from the beautiful love note book below, created by the gal behind Oh, Hello Friend.

Best Green Cookbooks

As you and your sweetie get ready to enter marital bliss, or even if you are already living in marital bliss, bring a little eco bliss into your kitchen as well. It's so important to share at least one meal a day together - it gives you a chance to connect with eachother, which is especially important if you both lead hectic lifestyles.

The Daily Green has a list of the best vegan and vegetarian cookbooks on the shelves these days. Even if you're not a vegetarian, adding a few veggie based meals to your menu each week is good for the earth and good for the body!

Beautiful Backyard Wedding

I absolutely adore this backyard wedding! The simple wildflower decorations in glass bottles is an easy earth friendly touch. And you gotta love a bride who rocks her own style - check out that teal colored dress, multi-colored shoes, and dark (is that black?) nail polish? Photography courtesy of Levi Stolove.

Lovely Friday inspiration. Garden Party From Wiksten-Made

Vintage Polaroids

Does anyone remember the old Polaroid Captiva? That was a big, chunky camera that took photos about the size of your Blackberry. I had one. Not one of Polaroid's best product ideas. However, the true old Polaroid camera will always be a classic. Jenny Penny Vintage actually has one and you can get the film here! It would be a great way to capture those racy bachelorette party pictures that you don't want any digital copies of!

Small Quantity Fashion

First off, thank you everyone for your wonderful comments about the arrival of our baby girl! We feel so blessed to be able to share our love for her with you! Life has taken us down a path of poopie diapers and burp cloths, and I have to say I never quite fathomed just how much work a baby is, but it's all 100% worth it. So please understand and forgive me if I don't have new posts up everyday, but I'll aim to at least bring you something interesting and different when I do have a post for you. I plan to really get back in the swing of things in the next couple of months.

Now, on to business! Got a hard-to-shop-for groom or best man (or even bridesmaid)? Makr Carry Goods offers a high end, J.Crew-ish kind of fashion, but which carries a more unique, less mass produced feel. Made by a small group of local artisans, Makr utilizes a family owned factory for production and manufactures their product in smaller quantities in order to ensure quality and consistency.

Stuck in a Prism

There's something magical about the appearance and quality of a prism. Their unique shape and ability to spray a series of magical colors against a wall can be mesmerizing. I find it easy to be taken in by one. And I love this particular, handmade ring by VeridiAum. I love how the ethically mined quartz crystal is a strong and sturdy centerpiece set atop an understated 100% recycled sterling silver ring. $250 a pop, handmade to order, each ring is a little different from the next.
